Position Summary

The Assitant Director of Perioperative Services has administrative accountability for continuous delivery of high quality patient care in the Operating Room. 

 

Primary Unit duties shall include:

 

Manage the activities of the control desk, and the activities of the intraoperative nursing staff.  Quality, Service, and Utilization standards shall also be monitored.

 

Manage the day-to-day operations of running the O.R. schedule in collaboration with the anesthesiologist in charge.

 

Maintain practice standards, staffing ratios, sound fiscal management, and foster Quality Improvement initiatives.

 

Assume specific responsibility for patient care at the department level.

 

Function as a resource and role model for all staff members.

 

Work with healthcare providers outside of the department to achieve optimal patient care across the continuum.

 

Complete the daily O.R. staffing room assignment. Complete and post monthly staffing schedule in accordance with timing guidelines. 

 

Complete bi-weekly payroll. Monitor staff attendance and tardiness.

 

Participate in and support patient care, and customer service initiatives.

 

As a Clinical Coordinator you will work closely with nursing leadership, participate in Shared Governance and be responsible for project needs as they relate to the Patient Care Services Management Action Plan. (Such as Pathway to Excellence Journey, Shared Governance, etc.)

Qualifications

Current NYS License, graduate of an accredited school of nursing, minimum of five years of Perioperative Care/O.R. experience, ACLS certification, PALS certification within one year of hire. Strong equipment related technical competence, and charge experience necessary. Must demonstrate a desire to pursue advanced degrees and certifications.

 

Must have excellent interpersonal skills, problem solving skills and decision making skills, ability to teach, mentor, coordinate and provide super user training as needed.

 

Project management experience, quality outcomes driven, strong computer skills and previous supervisory/ management experience strongly preferred.

 

BSN required or working towards an advanced degree, certification of specialty preferred.  Must be flexible and open to change and strong customer service attributes.
